Jessica Young began with photography, but gradually grew restless in the still medium. Within shooting the first 100ft roll of 16mm black and white reversal, she was hooked on the moving image.

The journey to be a Cinematographer started with some workshops in New York City, then took her across the continent to San Francisco to study at The Academy of Art College. After graduation she was hired immediately by Fox Racing, a motocross apparell company with in-house production for making extreme sport action films.

Chasing motorcycles for a year produced "Project MX-Terrafirma 7". Heralded as, "The Greatest Motocross Film of All Time" by RacerX Illustrated, a premier industry magazine. She continues to shoot freelance within the sport, and is presently Co-Director/DP on a series of documentaries called, "The Great Outdoors" - which chronicle the motocross outdoor Nationals.

Her path crossed with music video Director, Christopher Sims, and imagery merged. They share a willingness to explore the film medium at its raw inherent core. The result of their work together has equaled well over a dozen videos.

The production pace of music videos has given Jessica an opportunity to hone her craft of lighting and photography, and the chance to work with several great directors. She loves music video's creative freedom, and the challenge of documentary's need to be in the right place at the right time. She continues to shoot stills, currently seeks representation, and is looking forward to her first feature.

Jessica lives in Santa Monica, teaches a weekly music video class in San Francisco, and shoots as much as possible, just about anywhere on the map.
